Spider plants on a stack of books.

An Update on the Next Update

Hi everyone!

I wanted to check in on where the Potted update status is right now, and what we’re still working on.

Watering GlitchResolved

Water was working very well in the latest round of testing. There will always be minor discrepancies in timing with lag in SL, but when there were any missed watering doses, plants were able to quickly recover with no rerez needed.

Second Life Asset IssuesIn Testing

We are working on some ways to help recover from the asset issues that are becoming more common in Second Life, such as being able to take multiple copies of an object, or copies of items made when sims rollback. This part of the update is still in progress because it is tricky to test and we have had to get creative to get it tested, but we are nearing completion on this point and it will make it much easier for you to protect your plant inventory.

Magic SpadeIn Progress

This much-requested feature has been promised in the update and it is still being worked on. This garden tool will enable you to move plants between pots. It’s status is in progress, but it is not yet finished for the update.

Plant TruckIn Testing

This new feature will allow Pots to be turned in for Points, which will be redeemable for Exclusive Limited Edition items. This feature has been implemented into beta testing and it is working well.

Elite BoostIn Progress

This new end-game feature will give Elite Level Pots the chance to gain an “Elite Boost” when using an auto-waterer. Once Boosted, the pot will have the ability to unlock Elite Seed lines only obtainable through this feature.

We also had some quality-of-life improvements, like the ability for all plants to use the Garden Center control flags, but those are smaller improvements and already built in.

To be fully transparent, once the scripts are completely ready, we will have to rebuild every pot, which takes time. We have an updater, but because each pot is custom mesh with differences in particles, star textures, etc., it will take time to do the packaging, too. I mention this because a lot is going on behind the scenes and I want you to know we are working hard to bring you these improvements.

We will post another update soon with more update news.

Until then, happy growing!
