FAQ

What is Potted?

Potted is a plant-growing game within the virtual world of Second Life. Players purchase a pot and a seed and must water the plant to grow it. As the plant grows, it will periodically create new seeds that players can use to grow more plants. These new seeds may even produce different varieties of the plant, adding an exciting element of discovery to the game. Potted is a fun and engaging way to explore the world of virtual gardening and connect with other plant lovers in the Second Life community.

How do I play Potted?

To play Potted, you’ll need to purchase a pot and a seed of the same species from the Potted main store or from another player. Once you have your pot and seed, rez the pot on a plot in Second Life, and then rez the seed. Click on the seed to bring up a menu and select “Plant” to plant the seed in the pot. You will see a sprout appear in the pot once the seed has been planted. Click on the pot and select “Water” to water the plant, which can be done once every hour. If the plant does not receive water within a week, it will get sick and require medicine. Every time you water the plant, the pot will gain Star Points. Once the pot has gained enough Star Points, it will level up its Star Level, which can help you to harvest different varieties of the plant. Watch the plant grow, and when it is fully grown, it will offer the option to “Harvest” in the menu. To harvest a new seed, you will need a Harvest Bowl. Potted is a fun and interactive way to grow plants in a virtual world and connect with other plant enthusiasts.

What types of plants can I grow?

Currently, players can grow Spider plants, Ivy, Philodendrons, Succulents, and Karnivores. We are still growing, so more species will become available!

What are Karnivores?

Karnivores are a special type of plant in Potted that are carnivorous and have unique features that make them a standout addition to any virtual plant collection. They are a new addition to Potted as of March 2023 and are sold exclusively to our high-level $100+ patrons on Patreon. However, non-patrons can still grow Karnivores by obtaining a pot and seed from another player who has access.

Are some plants better than others?

Every Potted plant is unique and has the potential to grow into something interesting and beautiful. We believe that each plant is special in its own way, and encourage our players to choose the variety that they like the most. While the prices of different plant varieties may vary in the secondary market based on popularity and availability, we want our growers to prioritize their own preferences and grow the plants that make them happiest. We want everyone to enjoy the experience of growing their own virtual garden, with the knowledge that any Potted plant can produce amazing baby plants and bring joy to the grower.

How do I get Rare plants?

The rarity of Potted plants can vary for different reasons. Some plants are considered rare because they are limited editions that can only be grown from the same plant as a clone, while others may be more difficult to obtain when starting out. If you have a favorite plant that you want to duplicate, the best course of action is to grow one yourself! However, whether you are looking to clone a plant or discover an unusual variety, certain plants may be easier to obtain when grown in a pot of a higher Star Level. One of the best ways to find more plants you love is to combine a favorite plant with a high Star Level pot. While some Potted plants may be rarer than others, every plant has the potential to bring joy and satisfaction to our players.

What are Clones?

When you harvest a plant, there is a chance to get a clone of the parent plant’s genetics. All seeds in Potted can be cloned, but some are not easy to clone! To boost your chances of cloning your favorite plant, raise the Star Level of the pot it is planted in. In the future, we plan to release a clone booster, which would guarantee a clone, but would only be available to Patrons of a specific level and in very limited quantity. However, the clone booster is not currently available, so the star level is the easiest way to duplicate your plants.
