Upholding Safety and Standards: A Note on Linden Lab’s Child Avatar Policy

Dear Potted Community,

At Potted, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all our players has always been a top priority. Recently, Linden Lab made significant updates to their child avatar policy. As a family-friendly game, we believe it’s essential to address these changes and reaffirm our commitment to providing a welcoming space for players.

Let’s begin by reviewing the key points in the Linden Lab TOS changes on child avatars that could affect the general Potted Community:

1) Access to Adult-rated Regions: Child avatars are prohibited from entering any region rated Adult. Residents must switch to a non-child or non-childlike avatar to access Adult-rated regions.

2) Engagement in Adult Activities: Child avatars may not engage or participate in any event or location where nudity and/or sexual activity is present, encouraged, and/or expected.

3) Prohibition of Genital/Sexual Attachments: Child avatars are not allowed to wear genital/sexual attachments, including clothing, attachments, or HUDs created for and/or worn by child avatars to indicate genitalia, whether visible or not.

4) Modesty Requirement: Child avatars must not be fully nude. Content creators for child avatars are required to incorporate a modesty layer into their skins or bodies. This modesty layer should be baked into the avatar skins or bodies, should not be transparent, should not match the skin tone, and should not be removable.

All Potted sims are set to Moderate Access, reflecting our commitment to providing non-explicit content. However, we recognize that many of our Markets conduct business on Adult rated sims. In an effort to protect both our players and our Market Sim owners, we will be implementing the following measures:

1) All Potted Official Market Sims will be contacted directly to confirm their understanding and awareness of this new policy. Those Markets that operate on an Adult-Rated Sim will be noted as such in our Market Listings with an (A) after their name.

2) Child-Avatars will be expected to respect and comply with these changes to TOS. Those who have rentals on an Adult sim, attend auctions, or shop there must adhere to LL TOS by changing into a non-human or non-child avatar for the duration of their visit.

It is important to note that Potted is not responsible for ensuring LL TOS will be upheld. Rather, we will work with our Community and Market Sims to ensure they are aware of the policy changes. However, should instances of repeated abuse arise from either individuals or Market Sims, we will take necessary action. Our ongoing priority is to foster a safe environment for our entire community, and this commitment remains steadfast.

Nevertheless, Potted is not the place to submit Abuse Reports. Abuse Reports of this nature should be filed directly with Linden Labs.

Further, we encourage our child-avatar players to protect themselves by using the tools built into most viewers that limit access to Adult regions. This will prevent any accidental visits to Adult rated sims:
